A small-time movie producer capitalizes on the Cuban missile crisis to release his horror movie in a small coastal town, promising its inhabitants a unique film experience.
An almost forgotten cult classic that serves as a parody and a tribute to the horror movies of the 50s and 60s. Directed by Joe Dante, it’s full of nostalgia, it’s got another great score by Jerry Goldsmith and starring John Goodman, Cathy Moriarty, Simon Fenton, Omri Katz, Kellie Martin, Lisa Jakub, Robert Picardo, Lucinda Jenney, Jesse Lee, David’s Clennon, Jesse White, John Sayles, Dick Miller and an early role for Naomi Watts. Even though this movie received critical acclaim it was a box office bomb, but this hasn’t stopped it becoming one of my favourites over the years.
