Swaddlingis a relatively old ᴛᴇᴄʜɴɪǫᴜᴇ ᴏf tightly wrapping a baby in blankets or other clothes to ʀᴇsᴛʀɪᴄᴛ ᴍᴏᴠᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ, especially of the ʟɪᴍʙs. The idea behind the technique, according to the national childbirth trust, is that it will help your little one feel snug and secure, like how they felt in your ᴡᴏᴍʙ. But if not done sᴀFᴇʟʏ it could ɪɴᴄʀᴇᴀsᴇ their chace ᴏf ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘɪɴɢ ʜɪᴘ ᴅʏsᴘʟᴀsɪᴀ (a ᴅᴇᴠᴇʟᴏᴘᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ problem with a baby’s ʜɪᴘ ᴊᴏɪɴᴛ) and could put them at ʀɪsᴋ ᴏf ᴏᴠᴇʀʜᴇᴀᴛɪɴɢ. Swaddlingshould only be introduced when your baby is a newborn it states, and as soon as they show sɪɢɴs that they’re able to roll over, they should be transitioned away from it.
