Granger Smith is feeling all of the emotions this week after the pair welcomed their ʀᴀɪɴʙᴏᴡ baby, a boy named Maverick . Jᴜsᴛ two years after ʟᴏsɪɴɢ their ʏᴏᴜɴɢᴇsᴛ sᴏɴ in ᴀɴ ᴀᴄᴄɪᴅᴇɴᴛᴀʟ ᴅʀᴏᴡɴɪɴɢ. Alongside a sweet picture of his other half cradling the newborn in her ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟ ʙᴇᴅ, the proud dad announced on Instagram: “He’s here! Wow…so many emotions. Maverick Beckham Smith made his debut today. He and @amberemilysmith are doing great.”
The beaming dad shared a series of snapshots in his Instagram story, including one of ‘Mav’ at 60 seconds old, and aɴᴏᴛher of himself holding the new baby with ᴀ ᴛᴀᴛᴛᴏᴏ ᴏf ʜɪs ʟᴀᴛᴇ sᴏɴ Rɪᴠᴇʀ’s name visible on his forearm. Maverick’s arrival comes Jᴜsᴛ two years after the couple sᴜFFᴇʀᴇᴅ the ᴛʀᴀɢɪᴄ ʟᴏss ᴏF their ʏᴏᴜɴɢᴇsᴛ sᴏɴ, River, who ᴅʀᴏᴡɴᴇᴅat their Texas home ɪɴ 2019. River was three years old at the time of his ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ, and ʟᴇFᴛ behind two older siblings, ʙɪɢ sister London, 9, and ʙɪɢ brother Lincoln, 7. Previously he shared how they ᴜɴᴅᴇʀᴡᴇɴᴛ ⒾⓋⒻ ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ to ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇɪᴠᴇ but their first attempt ᴇɴᴅᴇᴅ ɪɴ ᴛʀᴀɢᴇᴅʏ. He said: ” I’ve seen Amber go through so much in the last few years and I watched her yet again with sᴛᴇᴀᴅFᴀsᴛ ʀᴇsɪʟɪᴇɴᴄᴇ ɴᴀᴠɪɢᴀᴛᴇ ᴘʜʏsɪᴄᴀʟ and ᴇᴍᴏᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ ᴘᴀɪɴ while ᴘʀᴇᴘᴀʀɪɴɢ her ʙᴏᴅʏ Fᴏʀ ᴀ sᴇᴄᴏɴᴅ ᴇᴍʙʀʏᴏ ᴛʀᴀɴsFᴇʀ. Four months later, she was ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ again with the Fɪɴᴀʟ ᴇᴍʙʀʏᴏ … a baby boy.”
Meanwhile, Amber also ʀᴇFʟᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ on the ‘ᴘʀᴏᴄᴇᴅᴜʀᴇs, ɪɴFᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ, ᴀɴᴛɪʙɪᴏᴛɪᴄs and all the things’ she experienced and how she was putting her faith in Gᴏᴅ. She wrote on Instagram :”Gᴏᴅ has made a way we ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ thought possible. If I’ve learned anything over the last 2 years, it’s that I do ɴᴏᴛ have as much control as I think I do. ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ did I think at 39 I would be blessed with expecting aɴᴏᴛher baby boy. These past couple of years have been sᴏ ʀᴏᴜɢʜ but also so full of so much joy, hope, ʜᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ, growing and grace from Gᴏᴅ. Lᴏʀᴅ, I ᴘʀᴀʏ that our story can speak life to someone else who may be sᴜFFᴇʀɪɴɢ to ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ give up hope. To sᴜʀʀᴇɴᴅᴇʀ their ʙᴜʀᴅᴇɴs to you. To trust you even when it ʜᴜʀᴛs. Sweet Riv, because of the beautiful life you ʟɪᴠᴇᴅ, we are forever changed and we will continue honoring your ʙɪɢ, little ʟᴇɢᴀᴄʏ until we come home to you. To Gᴏᴅ we give all the glory and we can’t wait to meet our new little boy August 2021.”
The couple have also opened up about the symbolic meaning behind Maverick’s name, which pays ᴛʀɪʙᴜᴛᴇ to river and celebrates individuality. Amber said :” I wanted this baby to have his ᴏᴡɴ ɪᴅᴇɴᴛɪᴛʏ, and I ᴅɪᴅɴ’ᴛ want him to be so ᴛɪᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ Rɪᴠᴇʀ. But I did want him to have a little piece of his brother in his name.”
