“I am here to tell you a story of a courageous family and little girl who’s sᴀᴄʀᴇᴅ ᴄᴏɴᴛʀᴀᴄᴛ here on this ᴘʟᴀɴᴇᴛwas ɴᴏᴛ meant to be earthly. A friend of mine messaged me stating at her routine ultrasound they ɪᴅᴇɴᴛɪꜰɪᴇᴅ her baby had ʜʏᴅʀᴏᴘs, a ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴɴᴏᴛ compatable with life in most cases, especially when found so ᴇᴀʀʟʏ in ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ.
The ⓄⒷ at the ᴄʟɪɴɪᴄ immediately recommend her ᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴀᴛɪɴɢ her ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴄʏ. She asked me what I thought. I dropped immediately into what I call ‘great grandma wisdom’, talking her through what her great cave grandma would have done. There would have been no high ᴛᴇᴄʜɴᴏʟᴏɢɪᴄᴀʟ ᴍᴀᴄʜɪɴᴇ sᴄᴀɴɴɪɴɢ her ʙᴇʟʟʏ to tell her of this ꜰᴀᴛᴇ. She would have still enjoyed the feeling of life moving inside of her. She would have woken before the ᴘᴀssɪɴɢ of 10 moons and realized that her baby was on her way too ᴇᴀʀʟʏ.
She would have been surrounded by her aunties, sisters & other females as they didn’t ꜰᴇᴀʀ walking into what is most guaranteed part of life … ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ. So instead of falling into ꜰᴇᴀʀ with the strong recommendation from the ⓄⒷ, she trusted her intuition, she let her baby pass on her own time & birthed her into the same place that she originally intended… at home. Before the start of the waves that would bring her here, she came across an article where a mom in a similar situation talked about preserving her baby in sᴀʟɪɴᴇ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ to mimic the ᴀᴍɴɪᴏᴛɪᴄ ꜰʟᴜɪᴅ that baby had just come from. The process of her little ʙᴏᴅʏ ᴅᴇᴄᴀʏɪɴɢ was ʜᴀʟᴛᴇᴅ and over time, with changing the water every 6-8 hours, they were able to see their baby unfold… the ʀᴇᴅɴᴇss of the sᴋɪɴ, the ᴘᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ sᴋɪɴ, all stopped. She looked through these mama’s pictures and knew it was right for their experience.
It was something I had never heard of in my 18 years of birth work, when she sent me her daughters pictures, I couldn’t stop looking at how beautiful she was. My eyes were filled with tears. What an amazing option for families who want more time with their babies. What an incredible way to be given their own time to say goodbye. And what an incredible gift to share with you all to know that this is an option.
